Craig Carter was born and raised on a ranch in Southwest Texas and still ranches south of Marathon in the Big Bend with his wife and daughter. He is a classic country-western singer, songwriter, horseman and entertainer, writing songs that ring with the authenticity of Big Bend country. With his band The Spur of the Moment he has played from the West Coast to the East Coast and overseas. Craig received the 2015 Texas Cowboy Poetry Heritage Award, is a regular at the Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Alpine, and has played the Gage Hotel Border Cowboy Classic alongside Augie Meyers. He has also worked as a wrangler and stuntman on films shot in the Big Bend, including No Country for Old Men and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. He is backed by Zack Casey, a touring musician since age 13 who has played with Craig for 28 years.
