Local Booking Agents

Far West Talent and Promotions is expanding our network of local booking agents. We book and route musicians in and through Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Georgia — and we're looking for people on the ground in these regions who know their local music scene and can build real relationships with venues.

As a local booking agent, you'll serve as the day-to-day liaison between our artist roster and the venues in your area — filling calendars, negotiating terms, and making sure both sides walk away happy.

You do not need a résumé full of shows. Some of the best people in this business started out as the one who was at the venue four nights a week and knew every band in town by name. If you're studying music or theatre, or you simply live in these rooms and love what happens in them, we will teach you the rest — the contracts, the routing, the money conversation. What we can't teach is caring about it.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain relationships with venue owners, talent buyers and event coordinators in your territory
  • Pitch and place artists into open dates that fit a venue's crowd, budget and vibe
  • Negotiate pay, set times and logistics on behalf of both the artist and the venue
  • Track availability, confirm bookings and follow up to keep calendars moving
  • Represent Far West Talent professionally in every interaction — you are often the only face of the agency a venue ever sees

What You'll Need

  • A real feel for your local live music scene: who plays where, what draws a crowd, which rooms treat bands right. If you go to shows, you already know more of this than you think
  • Relationships with venues, bars or event spaces — or the nerve to walk in and start building them
  • Clear, friendly communication in person, over text and by email
  • Enough backbone to ask for fair money on an artist's behalf without burning the bridge — we'll coach you on the numbers
  • Reliable follow-through: confirms details, meets deadlines, doesn't let a lead go cold
  • Comfortable with independent, self-directed work and light administrative tracking

The Right Personality

  • Personable and genuinely likable — the kind of person a bar owner wants to grab a beer with
  • Trustworthy and straight-shooting; keeps their word to both artists and venues
  • Persistent without being pushy — comfortable with rejection and quick to move to the next opportunity
  • A natural connector who enjoys introducing people and making good matches
  • Calm under pressure when a show detail changes last minute
  • Genuinely loves live music and the culture around it — this isn't just a sales job

Never Booked a Show? Read This.

  • You're in a music, theatre or arts program and you want to see how the business side of it actually works
  • You're at shows most weekends and you already know the bartender, the sound engineer and half the bands on the bill
  • You've put together a house show, a campus event, a benefit or a battle of the bands — that absolutely counts
  • You want to learn routing, contracts, riders and settlement from people who do it every week, not from a textbook
  • You'd rather build something in your own town than move somewhere else to work in music
  • We start you with a handful of rooms and actual support — not a territory and a shrug

Tell Us About Your Scene

The more concrete the better — which rooms you already walk into, and what you've done in them. If the honest answer is “I'm there every weekend and I know everybody,” write that down. It's a real answer and we read every one of these.

You
If you're an international student, this usually depends on your CPT/OPT status. “Not sure” is a perfectly good answer and won't count against you.
Under 18 isn't a no from us — it just means a parent or guardian signs alongside you.
Your Territory
What You Bring
If you're a student — we work with a few music and theatre departments and it helps us place you.
