Born Charles Helpinstill Jr in Texarkana, "the King of Texas-Style Piano" and a seven-time Houston Press Best Keyboardist. Started out with Johnny and Edgar Winter in Beaumont, later fronting an R&B horn band; now tours the theatrical show "The Story of Boogie-Woogie". Invented the Helpinstill Piano Pickup in 1972 and sold the first one to Elton John.
