Michele Solberg and Oliver Steck are a South Austin acoustic duo, often billed as Michelle & Oliver, playing American jazz standards and Americana. Their long-standing residency at the Evangeline Cafe built a repertoire that spans the Great American Songbook and songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.
Michele is an Austin singer-songwriter whose career began with Austin Music Awards placements including #1 Best Tape (1993-94), #2 Female Vocalist and #4 Singer-Songwriter (1994-95). Since 2016 she has been featured vocalist with Sammy's Satin Sounds, Austin's Benny Goodman tribute ensemble, and she created Heart Gigs to connect musicians with non-profit organizations.
Oliver plays piano and keyboard, trumpet and accordion and sings. A 2002 graduate of the Dell'Arte School of Physical Theater with more than three decades as a working musician, he was named Best Austin Musician - Keyboard (2017) and Best Austin Musician - Miscellaneous Instruments (2010), and is perhaps best known for his work with Slaid Cleaves.
