MYKERU is the long-running project of Venezuelan-American musician, producer and composer Michael Angel Cohen Gonzalez, founded in 2001. It is a blend of alternative and experimental rock, industrial and electronic music, and Venezuelan musical influences, drawing on classical composition and two decades in heavier rock — a hybrid that is neither a conventional rock band nor a DJ set. Live, it is a solo performance built from electric guitar, vocals, electronic and live rhythmic elements and DJ-based production, with an audiovisual presentation, and it scales to clubs, festivals, theatres, cultural events and fundraisers alike. Twenty-five years of releases behind it, including Power is Money, Scombros, Involuntary Banishment and Con Mearte Tengo, alongside published scores and the autobiographical book Prisionero de la Música.
